Montero Medical Missions (MMM) is a Chesapeake, Virginia-based humanitarian organization founded in July 2011 with a mission to create sustainable healthcare projects that serve both domestic and international communities in need. Built on the belief that meaningful mission work begins with one person taking one step to help another, MMM has grown through compassion, volunteerism, and strong partnerships dedicated to improving lives.

Here at home, MMM’s domestic efforts are focused heavily on serving veterans and underserved individuals across Hampton Roads. Over the years, MMM has worked to provide meaningful healthcare support through initiatives including dental care, vision support, prosthetic assistance, community health outreach, and collaborative wellness services. MMM’s innovative work for veterans has previously been recognized by the American College of Surgeons, reflecting the organization’s commitment to practical, compassionate, and impactful care.

A key part of MMM’s domestic mission is its support of veterans through partnerships with organizations that share that calling, including Battle Dawgs. Through these relationships, MMM helps extend access to services and programs that support veterans facing challenges such as trauma, recovery needs, and barriers to care. This includes helping connect veterans to dental services, wellness resources, and other forms of support that restore dignity, health, and hope.

MMM is an all-volunteer organization with no salaried employees. Its work is made possible through fundraising events, strategic partnerships, donated professional time, and the generosity of supporters who believe in helping those who have served others. Funds raised through the Parade of Boats and related events help support MMM’s domestic healthcare initiatives, particularly those benefiting veterans and underserved communities.

While MMM continues to maintain an international humanitarian presence, this event is especially focused on supporting its domestic mission. That means investing directly into programs and partnerships that make a real difference for veterans and families in our own communities.
